SMCC Student Ranks 6th Out of 163 in Northeast Competition

South Portland- Southern Maine Community College Computer Technology student Yulia Goltsova of Scarborough, Maine, came in 6th out of 163 students participating in the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges Student Math League Competition. Seventeen colleges in the Northeast participated. SMCC placed 6th in overall college ranking.
Round 2 of the Competition will be held March 4, from 11:30 to 1:30 in Jewett Auditorium on SMCC's South Portland campus.
The grand prize for the qualified individual with the highest total score on the two exams is a $3,000 scholarship to be used to continue his or her education at an accredited four-year institution.
